A Year of Farming

Every day at Windy View Farm is full of activity. Whether we’re feeding and watering the animals, cleaning their sleeping areas, or preparing for the two markets we attend—we love what we do! The rest of our working schedule is very organized to focus on a variety of tasks at optimal times of the year. This allows for a happy and efficient working environment and the best products for our customers.

A year in a glance at Windy View Farm

January-March:

With the beginning of each new year, we see an influx of new calves and lambs. We spend lots of time with the mothers, at all times of the day, to prepare for safe and healthy deliveries. Once the babies are born, we make sure they are getting adequate nutrition and proper attachment with their mothers.

April-November:

Starting in the early Spring, we begin raising our free-range turkeys and chickens. They are out on pasture during the summer months to feed on grass which compliments their all-natural grain diet.

April-June:

We spread our animals’ manure that we’ve stored over the winter. This ensures that we have healthy pastures and hay for our animals. During this time of year, we also fix and build fences.

June-October:

We can be found out in the fields haying. This guarantees that we have enough hay and silage in storage to feed our animals during the winter months.
